Just like you, we were watching the news and wishing we could find a way to help Haiti after the recent devastating earthquakes. We felt pretty far away from relief efforts in our small tech start-up in California. Last Thursday, our two awesome interns came to us with this idea. It was a cause that couldn't be ignored, so we voted on whether we should put Smish on hold and create Lifeline to Haiti. It was an unanimous decision, and we started late that night to get it finished as quickly as possible.
How does it work? By uploading your picture with your arms outstretched in the Lifeline, you connect North America to the people of Haiti, finger tip to finger tip, covering over 700 miles. Then after you become a part of the outreach, you can donate to the Clinton Bush Haiti fund, where 100% of the donations go to relief efforts.
